EFEKTIVITAS TERAPI KOMBINASI AKUPRESUR (CV4 DAN SP6) DENGAN AROMATERAPI MINYAK Citrus Sinensis TERHADAP PENURUNAN NYERI DISMENORE PADA REMAJA PUTRI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COMBINED ACUPRESSURE THERAPY (CV4 AND SP6) WITH Citrus Sinensis ESSENTIAL OIL AROMATHERAPY ON REDUCING DYSMENORRHEA PAIN IN ADOLESCENT GIRLS
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Primary dysmenorrhea is one of the most common reproductive health problems among adolescent girls and may affect quality of life and daily activities. Non-pharmacological management such as acupressure and aromatherapy has increasingly been developed as safe and effective alternatives. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a combination therapy of acupressure at CV4 and SP6 points with Citrus sinensis essential oil aromatherapy in reducing dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test control group was employed. The sample consisted of 20 respondents, including 10 in the intervention group and 10 in the control group, selected purposively. Pain intensity was measured using a numeric rating scale before and after intervention for three consecutive days, and analyzed using univariate and bivariate approaches with the Wilcoxon test. Results showed that most respondents were 16 years old (45%) and experienced moderate pain (50%) prior to intervention. In the intervention group, the dominant moderate pain at pre-test (60%) shifted to mild pain (60%) with 10% reporting no pain at post-test, whereas the control group remained dominated by moderate pain with no pain-free respondents. Bivariate analysis indicated a significant reduction in mean pain scores, from 6.20 to 4.90 on day one (p = 0.012), from 5.10 to 3.50 on day two (p = 0.001), and from 4.00 to 2.70 on day three (p = 0.000). These findings demonstrate that the combination of CV4 and SP6 acupressure with Citrus sinensis aromatherapy is effective in significantly reducing dysmenorrhea pain. This intervention is recommended as a non-pharmacological alternative for adolescent girls and further studies with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up periods are suggested to confirm its consistency.
