PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EDUKASI TENTANG PERAWATAN LUKA POST SECTIO CAESAREA MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA VIDEO TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP IBU POST SC

Abstract

The 2021 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data of the Republic of Indonesia reported that the percentage of deliveries using the Caesarean Section (CS) method in Indonesia reached 17.6% of total births. In Padang City, the proportion of Caesarean Section (CS) deliveries was 51.4% of all deliveries, and at Pauh Health Center, CS deliveries accounted for 63.4% of total births (Padang City Health Office, 2024). CS deliveries require special attention; therefore, the knowledge and attitudes of post-CS mothers in wound care significantly influence healing. Education using video media is an effective method to improve mothers’ understanding and compliance in post-CS wound care. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing post-CS wound care education using video media on the knowledge and attitudes of post-CS mothers in the working area of Pauh Health Center, Padang City. This research is a quantitative quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected through questionnaires completed by 30 respondents selected purposively. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Paired t-test and Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the demographic characteristics of respondents, such as age, education, occupation, were ideal for undergoing CS delivery, as well as performing post-CS check-ups and obtaining wound care information before CS. There was a significant effect of video-based education on increasing knowledge (p = 0.000) and the attitudes of post-CS mothers (p = 0.000). In conclusion, post-Caesarean Section wound care education using video media is effective in improving the knowledge and attitudes of post-CS mothers.
